Stephen DeVries directs commercials, branded films, documentaries, and narrative projects. His work spans lifestyle, food, travel and tourism, and entertainment, bringing thoughtful composition, expressive lighting, and genuine performances to stories made to connect.

Meet Stephen

Stephen DeVries is a director, photographer, and founder of Eleven Productions. His career began in still photography, and that foundation continues to shape how he sees a scene: the quality of the light, the balance of the frame, and the details that give an image its character.

His approach to directing brings that visual care together with a love of working with people. He enjoys helping talent find genuine, engaging performances and collaborating with agencies, clients, and crew to turn an idea into something everyone is excited to make.

Alongside commercials and branded films across lifestyle, food, and travel and tourism, Stephen directs documentary and docu-reality series and short films. His projects include Back to Birmingham, a sports docuseries following the Birmingham Bulls, and Invasive Florida, featuring wildlife creator Christian Cave of Caveman Wildlife.

Invasive Florida received the Reel South Award at Sidewalk Film Festival. The recognition included licensing for Reel South’s digital platforms and a development deal to pitch an original digital series based on the documentary.

From the first treatment to the decisions made on set, Stephen is hands-on and attentive to the details. He founded Eleven to build a place for that kind of collaboration—where the craft matters and making the work is part of the fun.

Away from set, he’s often on a road bike, spending time outdoors with his family, or making a case for the chocolate chip cookie as the perfect dessert.

Based in Birmingham, Alabama, Stephen works across the Southeast, nationwide, and around the world.
